Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finishes, which improve resistance to the elements and to staining, extend the life of our technical garments. Immediately adopting Greenpeace’s 2012 recommendations, Millet fully eliminated long-chain (C8) fluorocarbon finishes from its Winter 2014/2015 collection, replacing them with shorter-chain (C6) finishes in which PFOA levels are undetectable.
In parallel, the brand has done research into DWR finishes that no longer use any flurocarbon substance, in order to remove even the tiniest presence of PFOA. Millet’s stated ambition is to phase out, by 2020, all DWR finishes containing short-chain (C6/C4) fluorocarbons, and therefore to be 100% PFOA free.
