The Aiguille Verte story in a movie

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the first ascent of the Aiguille Verte, the Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix produced a film which traces the major dates in the history of this summit which is so dear to its heart.

"La Verte" has been the object of the keen interest of many climbers for a century and a half. Some great names have marched off in quest of this summit of 4122 meters: Edward Whymper, Michel Croz, Albert Mummery, Armand Charlet, Marco Siffredi... As part of the celebration of 150 years of the golden age of mountaineering, the Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix produced a film with Bertrand Delapierre, tracing the history of the "queen of the Mont Blanc massif": with breathtaking images, as well as a virtual 'moment in the shoes' of the climbers of the time. The Aiguille Verte has strongly marked the history of mountaineering, inspiring Gaston Rébuffat who warned future pretenders to this summit: "Before La Verte you're a mountain-climber, when you're on La Verte you become a mountain man."
