IMAGINING A SECOND LIFE FOR OUR PRODUCTS
Even after making every effort to extend the life of our products to minimize their social and environmental impact, we are still responsible for what happens to them once they can no longer be repaired or used.
We are therefore duty-bound to collect and upcycle our used products. We find solutions for each type of end-of-life product, to minimize sending to landfill and incineration.
For example, we have set up a partnership with Outdoor Waste Lab (OWL), which collects these products and gives them a second life in the form of small bags. We also work with social charities, like 82-4000, which gives deprived people access to the mountains; we equip them with functional and still-useable products.
Since 2014, we have recycled more than 4 metric tons of textiles.
Lastly, climbing ropes are safety products that must be replaced regularly, especially in professional organizations such as climbing gyms. This generates large amounts of material, which we cannot allow to be sent to landfill or incinerated. We have decided to offer our partner gyms a collection and recycling service that converts this waste into resources.
